To make money from home is not very much different than making money from your job when it comes to time and task management. Management of anything comes down to three central elements:
- Setting objectives, goals, and direction.
- Identifying and then applying the required resource to the task.
- Achieving objectives and goals.
In your current occupation, it is probably easy for you to identify how leadership applies to your job. What is probably less obvious, is how leadership applies to platforms which allow you to make money from home from your home business. We will attempt to illuminate this for you.
As stated above, you must be able to set clear objectives, goals, and direction for yourself, and your daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. You must equip yourself with the proper resources to complete the task. Also, you must be able to gauge your success, and make the necessary adjustments to achieve your objectives and goals.
We will begin by setting clear objectives, goals, and direction.
- Have you put together a business plan?
- Have you identified and prioritized the steps which you must complete in order to reach your goals?
- Do you have a daily, weekly, and monthly agenda for your course of action?
If you have answered "no" to any of the above, then it is time to take a step back, and create a written plan specifically for these items. You must first plan your work, then work your plan, not the other way around.
Another thing to keep in mind is that while the big goal is to make money from home, we can never lose sight of the fact that we have lives outside of work. You must balance your personal life with your work life. Just because it is you own business, does not mean that you can forget this important fact. If you make the mistake of ignoring balance, you will experience burn out very quickly.
Next, you will need to identify the resources which you will need to help complete the requirements of your business. For example, home businesses, it is absolutely essential that you identify resources which you can utilize to automate and outsource as many routine functions as possible. However, you must make sure that you are able to monitor the progress and completion of those routine functions. Remember this. Unless you hire a staff at the onset of your home business, your time is your most valuable and limited resource.
Finally, you must monitor your progress against your objectives, goals, and planned direction. Make sure that you act as your own boss by holding yourself accountable to deadlines which you had set for yourself earlier. You should begin each day by using your calendar to review the days' and weeks' originally planned course of action, and align your schedule to make sure that all critical items have been and will be completed.
As your business evolves, and you accomplish your set goals and objectives, you must keep setting new goals and objectives. You must do this in order to stimulate continued growth and success.
